Our story
dB Audio started in 1998 in David’s college dorm room, with the first systems laid out on the floor, configured, programmed and tested before going into clients’ homes.
Over the years, the work has included home theaters, entertainment venues, churches and even cruise ships, but residential technology has always been at the center of the business. We’ve designed and installed systems in Orange County and throughout Southern California, then continued to maintain and update many of those same homes as the technology and the needs of the people living there have changed.
Starting in 1998 also means we’ve worked through several generations of home technology. We’ve seen what lasts, what doesn’t and how important good wiring, solid infrastructure and flexible design become as technology changes. That experience shapes the systems we design today and the advice we give our clients about what is worth investing in.
Still the same approach
The technology has changed considerably since those first systems were laid out on a dorm room floor, but the approach is still much the same. Understand what the client needs, design the system carefully, make sure it works before calling it finished and be there to take care of it afterward.
Many of our clients have been with us for 10, 20 years or more, and many have trusted us with multiple homes. Those relationships have been built one project, one update and one service call at a time.

“I really do love this work. I enjoy the technology, but I enjoy working with my clients even more. Every home is different and every client has different priorities, so there’s always a problem to solve and something new to figure out.
One of my favorite parts of the job is taking something that feels complicated or frustrating and making it work in a way that feels simple to the person using it. And I especially value the relationships that come from being invited back into the same homes year after year.”
